BIOGRAPHY

Buffy Morton Deaton is a Set Decorator with 17+ years of experience working within the Motion Picture and Television industry. She was raised in the small Pacific Northwest city of Oak Harbor, WA., located on Whidbey Island. Coming from a town known for its artistic community, Buffy spent much of her childhood pursuing the arts with high hopes of moving to Los Angeles to further her education and lend her creative talents to a larger community.

In 2003, Buffy relocated to LA where she attended CSULA, and as a senior began her 10-year long career with the IATSE as the Director of Social Services and Journalist. Her creative outlet through journalism soon proved to not be enough. In 2013, the budding artist officially came into her own, and it was then, that she identified her passion for Set Decorating.

Ms. Deaton being the determined, goal-oriented woman that she is; used this ambition as a driving force to work her way up the ranks. She soon became a Set Dresser, On-set, Set Dec Buyer, and Lead. Buffy felt strongly that by having a thorough understanding of all of the departments that she would eventually oversee; she would have a greater comprehension of what it would take to accomplish the look of her Designer’s vision. Buffy’s 8 years in the Set Dec department before becoming a Set Decorator, REALLY enhanced her capabilities. She has a great understanding of camera lines, space, man power, prop house inventory, budgeting, rigging, electrical, and time it takes to accomplish a thoroughly dressed set.

As a Set Decorator, Buffy brings a unique level of excitement and charisma to the job. She sees every challenge as an opportunity for growth and always strives to create a space that sells what’s happening in the story, without an actor/actress ever stepping foot on the set.  Her humble demeaner and dedication makes her a well-liked individual and employee.

Buffy is more than a Set Decorator, she’s a family oriented woman, Christian, someone enthusiastic about maintaining a healthy mind and body, a student for life, and last, but certainly not least; this small town girl….. in a big time way….. makes it a point to “live life within the moment”.
